- Quality scores are derived from menu tier, the strain's price position and the price position within the shop's own menu. The API supplies no user ratings (all ratings are empty), so no public opinion is included.
- Only prices that can reliably be converted to euro per gram (parse confidence >= 0.6) take part in the comparison; per-piece and per-dose prices are not included.
- Dutch coffeeshops use fixed price points with varying weight: the same 6.50 euro can be 0.8 or 1.4 grams. That is why euro per gram is the measure.
Sources and rights
- coffeeshop-menu.com
- The shops' online menus, through the public API of coffeeshop-menu.com. We fetch what their robots.txt allows, at most one request per second, and we take only price, name, weight and category. No texts, no images, no copy of their database.
- coffeeshopmenus.org
- Photos of real menu boards, submitted by visitors with a date and a name. We read the prices off the photo and show those, with the date; we do not publish the photo itself. The name of the person who sent it stays in our own records and is not put on this page.
- Google Maps
- For shops without an online menu we look at photos visitors posted at the shop on Google Maps (Places API). Here too we show only the prices we read and link to the place on Maps; the photo and the photographer's name stay with Google, because that is an ordinary person and we do not need their name here. Google gives no date for a photo, so those prices say “date unknown”.
- Submitted photos
- Anyone may send in a photo of a menu board: owner, staff or customer. Doing so gives us permission to use the prices. We keep the photo only to check the reading, and do not show it.
